Overview of magnetic material investigations in Parma: cuprates, cobaltites, nickelates

I will illustrate NMR and muon spectroscopy activities on magnetism and correlated electron systems, performed in Parma. After a presentation of the Department I belong to, I shall be very briefly touching our recent investigations of the zero field phase diagram of non-centro-symmetric system Ba2CuGe2O7, a candidate for skyrmions, the phase diagram of La2-xSrxCoO4, isostructural with La cuprate superconductors and the magnetic ground state of Ca3Cu2O8, an intriguing Ising system. Both cobaltites are playground for stable high-spin and low-spin Co configurations. Another interesting system isostructural and nearly isoelectronic  with the cuprates is La4Ni3O8 where high-spin to low-spin transition most likely takes place.
