Polytriphenylamine

Electrochemical synthesis of polytriphenylamine

Due to its high redox stability polymers with triphenylamine segments were widely used in organic electronics. Up to now polymers containing triphenyleamine moieties were formed by different chemical synthesis.
We could show for the first time, that it is possible to electropolymerize triphenylamine directly at the electrode. The galvanostatically or potentiodynamically produced films do not change their redoxactivity even after storage at ambient condions for months.
CV of anodically produced polytriphenylamine
This cyclic voltammogram is measured with an anodically produced polytriphenylamine film in 0.1M tetrabutylammoniumhexafluorophosphat (TBAPF6)/acetonitrile.
The formation of an polytriphenylamine film could be confirmed by FTIR-spectroscopy.
