Expertise and experience

Stirling as an SME has produced cryogenic cooling systems for over 50 years. The new field of cooling HTS systems has been a challenge and an interesting experience over the past years. Producers of HTS systems and especially end-users have a very different view on cryogenics from that of the typical customer so far, since cryogenics is often a completely new experience for them. Stirling is dedicated to HTS industry by developing new methods, systems and cryocoolers, which will enable the broad use of HTS with minimal focus on the involved cryogenics for the end-user.

Role in the project

Stirling will develop new reliable cooling concepts and test them in combination with power application systems based on improved nanoengineered superconductors developed in he famework of NESPA. Stirling will train Early Stage and Experienced Researcher on state-of-the art cooling systems for HTS applications.
