Scientific staff / Post doc positions
PhD positionsTraining and promotion of young scientists are part of the statutory duties of the IFW Dresden. The topics of doctoral theses are integral parts of IFW’s research program. That way PhD students are strongly involved in the scientific work of the institute. In average, 100 doctorate students work at the IFW being mainly enrolled at the Dresden University of Technology or at the Chemnitz University of Technology. Applicants for PhD positions have to meet the entrance criteria of these universities.

Diploma and master theses
The IFW offers interesting topics and excellent working conditions for diploma and master theses. The directors of the IFW institutes are simultaneously Full Professors at the Dresden or
Chemnitz Universities of Technology, give lectures there and offer practical training and seminars which partly take place in the IFW.

Vocational training
On an average, the IFW employs 20 apprentices in professions like physics laboratory assistant, chemical laboratory assistant, power electronic technician, industrial mechanic and assistant in office communication.
For 2011 we offer training positions for
- 2 chemical laboratory assistants
- 1 Industrial mechanic for precision apparatus engineering
- 2 assistants in office communication
- 1 electronics technician for operating technology
