2016.12.18 Due to his great works, Yan received the Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad!I am very proud as his PhD supervisor!

2016.12.13 Many congratulations to the recent paper published by Yang Zhang and Yan Chen in Nano Energy "Scalable single crystalline PMN-PT nanobelts sculpted from bulk for energy harvesting".

2016.11.11 We are very very excited about the new results on GaAs/AlGaAs semiconductor entangled photon sources. Nearly 100% of QDs in an as-grown wafer can emit polarization entangled photons, without any post-growth tuning. As also shown in another work by our collaborator in Linz, these sources have potentially very high indistinguishability.



2016.09.02 Today we have the visit of Prof. Gregor Weihs, the vice president of Austrian Science Fund and a well-known physicist in quantum information sciences.

2016.08.30 Our work "Monolithically integrated MEMS for on-chip strain engineering of quantum dots" is accepted for publication in Nano Letters. Many congratulations to Dr. Yang Zhang and Yan Chen!

2016.08.29 From the 1st of September, 2016, Fei Ding is a W3 Full professor (with tenure) in Leibniz University of Hannover.

2016.08.22 The final result arrives! An ERC Starting grant of around 1.77 million Euro will be awarded to Fei. The ERC Grants awarded by the European Research Council are among the most prestigious and competitive European research funding. It will definitely help our team in pursuing our dream.

2016.06.14 Fei received a call for a W3 Full Professorship.

2016.06.07 Fei finished the 2nd stage interview of an ERC grant. Keep finger crossed.

2016.04.29 Jiaxiang has successfully completed his journey in our group. And soon he will start postdoc in a world-famous university! Many congratulations to JX! It was a wonderful and fruitful time working together with JX. I can't say it is not a sad time for us. And we (especially, I) thank JX for the great contributions to the group !!!

2015.09.20 Fei received another Patent Issue Award from IBM.

2015.08.21 Jiaxiang has successfully defended his thesis and got an excellent degree for "Single and entangled-photon emission from strain tunable quantum dots devices". Many congratulations and best wishes to his new career in our group as as postdoc.

2015.07.31 Yan Chen has successfully realized an energy-tunable entangled photon source based on III-V quantum dots. Most fantastically, the new source is integrated on a Silicon platform. We envision a range of exciting possibilities with this great quantum light source!

2015.06.11 Fei was invited by Prof. Michael Oestreich and gave a colloquium in the Institute for Solid State Physics in Leibniz Institute Hannover.

2015.05.13 We are very excited to introduce a strain-tunable entangled light emitting diode. Polarization entangled photon pairs can be generated via this "push-button" LED with a speed up to 400 MHz! Being the second of its kind in the world, our device has however several important advantages. I would like to congratulate JX on this remarkable achievement and thank our collaboration partners in Prof. A. Rastelli's group (JKU Linz).

2015.03.13 Prof. Stephan Reitzenstein from TU Berlin visited us today and gave an interesting seminar talk.

2015.02.23 Fei received a Patent Issue Award from IBM.

2015.02.11 Robert Keil got the diplom degree from TU Dresden. His excellent works on resonance fluorescence of GaAs QDs received the highest mark. Congratulations and best wishes to his PhD thesis in our group!

2015.01.23 Today we have the visit from Dr. Evgeny Chekhovich (group of Prof. M. S. Skolnick in Sheffield).

2015.01.01 Splendid news from Prof. Vladimir Fomin. The book "Physics of quantum rings" by Springer, where we have contributed to the chapter on single neutral exciton Aharonov-Bohm effects, has been downloaded by more than 7500 times so far.

2014.12.19 The happy colleagues in IFW Research Topic 3.3 "Quantum and Nano-Photonics". (BTW, why we are laughing? Someone is late!) Happy holiday, everyone!

2014.08.19 Fei visited Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, UK and gave a talk on our recent experimental progresses.

2014.06.15 We had a successful collaboration with Eugenio Zallo from MBE group. By using the strain tuning technique, Eugenio can actively and precisely tune the coupling between two dots in a QD molecule. The work has been accepted in Phys. Rev. B (Rapid Communication). Congratulations to Eugenio!

2014.04.21 Our collaboration with Dr. Lin Zhang in the energy group has led to a successful publication in Advanced Materials (Just accepted). We contributed to the optical characterization of the nanomembranes. Congratulations to Lin!

I started PhD study in Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) in 2004, with Prof. Yonghai Chen (PhD supervisor) in the Institute of Semiconductors. From 2006 to 2009 I was selected in the first Chinese Academy of Sciences - Max Planck Society joint PhD program, working partly in Stuttgart (MPI-FKF) and Dresden (IFW). Part of my PhD study was performed together with Prof. Val Zwiller in Kavli Institute of Nanoscience, Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands.

After the PhD I did one and half year Postdoc with Oliver and Armando, then I got the support from Marie Curie Fellowship and moved to Switzerland. During the two years' stay in Big Blue (IBM) I was working with Dr. Rainer F. Mahrt in the Exploratory Photonics Group. Since October 2012 I returned to IFW as a scientific group leader.
