Phase equilibria of metallic alloy systems

The understanding of the structure formation of upon casting the melt requires the knowledge of the corresponding phase diagrams. Experimental investigations of phase diagrams are undertaken for glass forming alloy systems including ternary and even binary subsystems where the required data are not reliable or not available. Based on the experimental data from thermal analysis, in situ X-ray diffraction and microstructure of cast alloys, thermodynamic description using the CALPHAD method is developed.
