The third, expanded edition of the book Physics of Quantum Rings has been published in the renowned Springer series NanoScience and Technology. The editor is Prof. Vladimir M. Fomin of the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden).
The book focuses on quantum rings – a special class of nanoscale high-tech structures. It covers their fabrication by Molecular Beam and Droplet Epitaxy as well as their topology-driven electronic, optical, and magnetic properties. Theoretical models and experimental results presented in the book provide the basis for novel applications in electronics, spintronics, magnetics, and optoelectronics.
The third edition introduces new chapters and substantially updated contributions on recent advances in quantum ring research – including spin dynamics, quantum interference effects in novel materials, and optical and magnetic phenomena in ring-shaped architectures. With this expanded edition, Physics of Quantum Rings sets new standards in a highly topical research field and highlights the international visibility of IFW Dresden’s work.
