Vladimir Fomin awarded as APS Outstanding Referee 2023

APS recognizes the exceptional work in the assessment of manuscripts published in the Physical Review Journals.

For several decades, Prof. Dr. Vladimir Fomin from the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden has been active as a reviewer of scientific publications to be published by the renowned American Physical Society (APS), one of the most important international physics societies. Now, the APS has selected Professor Fomin as one of the 153 "APS Outstanding Referees" for the year 2023, recognizing their exceptional work in the assessment of manuscripts published in the Physical Review Journals.

The „ASP Outstanding Referee“ is a lifetime award which recognizes active referees for their invaluable work. The selection this year was made from 40 years of records on over 82,000 referees who have been called upon to review manuscripts, including more than 40,000 that were submitted in 2022. The basis for the Outstanding Referees selection considers the quality, number and timeliness of a referee’s reports, without regard for membership in the APS, country of origin, or field of research. The 2023 honorees come from 29 different countries, with large contingents from the U.S., Germany, Italy, France, Spain and the U.K.

The efforts of the very dedicated reviewers not only keep the standards of the journals at a high level, but in many cases also help the authors to improve the quality and readability of their articles. Therefore, we not only congratulate Vladimir Fomin, but are also very grateful to him for his outstanding service to the physics community.
