Newly established: Saxon Research Network on Quantum Technologies (SAX-QT)

Kick-off Meeting at IFW Dresden

On 29 September 2025, the Kick-off Meeting of the newly established Saxon Research Network for Quantum Technologies (SAX-QT) took place at IFW Dresden. Partners from across Saxony gathered to shape the future of the network, also known as “Quantum Saxony”.

SAX-QT unites Saxon expertise in quantum computing, quantum sensor technology, and quantum materials with the goal of accelerating the transfer of cutting-edge research into industry and society. Through joint workshops, training programs, and collaborative R&D projects, the network fosters knowledge exchange, strengthens the ability of its partners to attract third-party funding, and positions Saxony as a leading hub for next-generation quantum technologies.

The start-up phase of SAX-QT is supported by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) of the Free State of Saxony until the end of 2027. The initiative is being driven forward by the University of Applied Sciences Zittau/Görlitz (HSZG), the Fraunhofer Institute for Photonic Microsystems (IPMS), and the Leibniz Institute for Solid State and Materials Research Dresden (IFW Dresden).
