We are conducting research on metallic glasses (amorphous alloys), glass-matrix composites and nanostructured alloys with tailored properties for corrosion resistance and electrocatalysis, e.g. for green energy applications.

We design titanium alloys (beta-type, metallic glasses) as new bone implant materials and we analyze the impacts of process-conditioned microstructure & morphology on mechanical properties and corrosion. A main research focus is on the generation of tailored surface states for highest biocompatibility.

We investigate magnetic field effects on electrochemical processes. We analyze corrosion properties of rare earth magnets and magnetocaloric alloys with focus on material effects (composition, microstructure, magnetization state) and derive rare earth recycling concepts.
