Research Interest

Research into carbon systems forms one of his main enduring interests, with contributions being made in the fields of conducting and semiconducting polymers, fullerenes, nanotubes, diamond, diamond-like carbon, and graphene. His other main field of activity is directed towards the study of the electronic structure of superconductors such as transition metal carbides and nitrides, A15 compounds, cuprates, intercalated fullerenes, borocarbides, cobaltades and Fe-pnictides. Further work is related to electronic structure studies of simple metals, low dimensional systems and 3d transition metal compounds. Very recently, he has started work on the spin dependent lifetime of electronic states in magnetic systems such as Ni, Co, Fe and permaloy as well as on topological materials.
